Pizza Margherita

Pizza Margherita originates from Naples, Italy, where it was invented in 1889 in honor of Queen Margherita. It is a simple and delicious pizza with tomato sauce, mozzarella, and basil. It is one of the most famous and beloved pizzas in the world, featuring the colors of the Italian flag: red, white, and green.

Ingredients

  • Dough
  • 10 g yeast
  • 300 ml lukewarm water
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 250 g all-purpose flour
  • 250 g pizza flour
  • Topping
  • 1 can chopped tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tsp dried oregano

Instructions

  1. Dough
  2. Dissolve the yeast in the water and add oil, salt, and flour.
  3. Knead the dough well and let it rise in a warm place for at least 2 hours.
  4. Topping
  5. Pour the chopped tomatoes into a saucepan, and add tomato paste, pressed garlic, and oregano.
  6. Let it simmer for 10 minutes.
  7. Roll out the pizza dough on a piece of baking paper, and spread the tomato sauce over the dough.
  8. Grate the mozzarella, and distribute it over the pizza.
  9. Bake the pizza at 200°C (fan) for 10-12 minutes, until it is golden and crispy.
  10. Garnish the pizza with fresh basil, and serve immediately.
