Crème Brûlée

Cooking time: 260 minutes
Servings: 4

Crème Brûlée is my absolute favorite dessert. A French dessert that is incredibly easy to make with a creamy vanilla flavor and a crispy caramelized top. With just five ingredients, you can quickly create a flavorful and delicious dessert. The ramekins I use measure 8.5 cm.

Crème Brûlée

Ingredients

  • 4 egg yolks
  • 60 g sugar
  • 1 vanilla pod (can be replaced with 1 tbsp vanilla sugar)
  • 400 ml cream
  • 50 ml milk

Instructions

  1. Whisk the egg yolks with sugar and the seeds from the vanilla pod. You can replace the vanilla pod with 1 tbsp vanilla sugar.
  2. Heat the cream and milk in a saucepan until it almost reaches boiling point.
  3. Slowly pour the hot cream mixture into the egg mixture and whisk quickly to ensure it combines properly.
  4. Pour the entire mixture back into the saucepan and heat it to about 80 degrees Celsius.
  5. Let the cream mixture cool for about an hour.
  6. Divide the cream into four ramekins.
  7. Place the desserts in a baking dish and fill it with water so the ramekins are half submerged.
  8. Bake the desserts at 130 degrees Celsius in a conventional oven for 50 to 60 minutes until they are set and slightly wobbly.
  9. Chill them for at least 3 hours or overnight.
  10. When the crème brûlées are ready to eat, sprinkle about 2 teaspoons of sugar on each dessert.
  11. Lightly torch the sugar with a blowtorch and serve.
