Carrot Buns

Carrot buns are a delicious pastry with a moist and soft crumb. They are filled with carrots and sunflower seeds, and their flavor can easily be varied with, for example, pumpkin seeds or root vegetables.

Carrot Buns

Ingredients

  • 2½ dl lukewarm milk
  • 30 g yeast
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 450 g all-purpose flour
  • 40 g sugar
  • 40 g soft butter
  • 1 egg
  • 2 carrots
  • 50 g sunflower seeds

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm milk
  2. Add salt, flour, and sugar, and knead into a uniform dough
  3. Add butter and continue kneading
  4. Let the dough rise for ½ hour
  5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and crack the egg into a well in the center of the dough
  6. Also add grated carrots and sunflower seeds
  7. Fold the dough together until it is uniform
  8. Cut the dough into 12 buns and let them rise on a baking sheet for another ½ hour
  9. Bake the buns at 200°C (fan) for about 15 minutes
