Buttermilk Buns

My buttermilk buns are delicious and soft. They are easy to make and taste fantastic with butter and cheese or just on their own. The buttermilk gives them a lovely sweet flavor and a soft texture.

Buttermilk Buns

Ingredients

  • ½ dl warm water
  • 25 g yeast
  • 3 dl buttermilk dessert
  • 1 egg
  • 500 g flour
  • 50 g butter
  • 1½ tsp coarse salt

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the yeast in the warm water and add buttermilk and egg.
  2. Add flour, melted butter, and salt, and knead the dough well.
  3. Knead the dough in a mixer or with dough hooks until it is uniform and smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise covered for 1 hour.
  5. Divide the dough into 12 pieces and roll them into buns.
  6. Place them on a baking sheet with parchment paper and let them rise for another hour.
  7. Brush them with water or egg and bake them at 200°C (conventional oven) for 15 minutes.
