Asian Porridge

Congee or Asian porridge is a delightful dish in Asia and comes in many varieties. This version features delicious soy chicken with a fresh ginger flavor that will bring the taste of Asia directly to your dining table. Top the porridge with your favorite Asian toppings such as spring onions, soy sauce, teriyaki, or sesame.

Asian Porridge

Ingredients

  • 300 g porridge rice
  • 2 vegetable bouillon cubes
  • 1 ½ liters water
  • 400 g chicken breast
  • 7 tbsp soy sauce
  • 60 g fresh ginger
  • 7 cloves garlic
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 tbsp neutral-flavored oil

Instructions

  1. Boil rice and bouillon in water and let it simmer under a lid for about 30 - 40 minutes until the rice has absorbed all the water.
  2. Cut the chicken into cubes and fry it in a pan.
  3. When the chicken is almost done, add soy sauce. Let it sit over low heat.
  4. Blend ginger, garlic, and oil in a mini chopper until the mixture is completely smooth.
  5. When the rice is cooked, mix the ginger mixture into the rice and then mix in the soy chicken.
  6. Serve with peanuts and fresh spring onions.
